As your doula, before the birth, I encourage you to think about what your ideal birth would look like for you and your partner. Using your intentions and wishes, we draw up your “Birth Wishes” which states what you would like and not like during your labor.
During labor, I provide you with physical support to make your labor and delivery more manageable. This could be massage, techniques to relieve back labor, gentle touches to relax you, or helping you move into optimal birthing positions for the baby.
A doula provides emotional support; encouraging you, advocating for you, being your friend and believer, and helping your partner be the best birth partner he or she can be for you.
A doula provides knowledge by helping translate information your doctor gives you, and presents options to consider when given choices to make.
I stay with you during your labor, through your birth, and up to 2 hours after the baby is born to help you settle in with your new baby and establish breastfeeding.
In our postpartum visit, I help you recall your birth experience, often filling in the gaps when time escapes the mother, as so often happens.
